Sports is a waste of mind
Do being all into sports make you a vegetable? Does getting all into sports take over a persons life, so much that the mind goes to waste?
Re: Sports is a waste of mind
Possibly. At least for the die-hards that become totally consumed by them. Those that invest ALL of their time with things like fantasy football etc.
Re: Sports is a waste of mind

Re: Sports is a waste of mind
people have hobbies, and people have obsessions....i think for the most part people keep things like fantasy football as a hobby, unless the play for money, than its a habit. Some people take it as an obsession, where it consumes there whole lives, when it comes to those people, if it wasnt sports it would be something else. For some people tho, its more of a, ive been going since i was a kid, a memory tyoe of thing. Ive been going to dodger games since i was 10. when i go it reminds me of postin up wit my pops and my cousins at dodger stadium when i was a kid, and every time since then till now. hundreds of times ive been there. so , for some people it turns into something more than sports.

orale., well what can i say., i used to walk it over to chavez ravine to catch the dodgers in the 70s., bad ass players they had in the 70s., they were the team to watch., ron cey, dusty baker, dave lops, reggie smith, steve garvey., yeah., dodger blue homeboy., those where the days., ey but getting back to topic, pues you know what, i think people who spend too much time in sports, whether watching it or playing them, well, i think they don't really get into -for lack of a better term- political involvement., and i don't mean "politics" .. i'm talking about really thinking about the history and cause of things and problems., i think sports is most definitely a good thing, but not when it takes you away and you forget about everything else., there's times for sports, and then there's not!
Re: Sports is a waste of mind
Yea, some people get too obsessed with sports, they use it as an escape from reality.
Re: Sports is a waste of mind
Unfortunately, I love professional Sports. And it a huge waste of time. Anyone who doesn't believe so is a brainwashed bastard. I myself am an addict. I got to watch sports. I will miss chirch on Sunday, miss a family event, blow wads of money and time I could be using on better things for myself and my family on jerseys hats ticktets bbq's and whatever else in order to have a good time surrounding an event that has zero to do with making a positive change in life, with the exception of gambling, where you can actually make a living if your good enough, I am nowhere even close mind you.
Playing sports on the other hand is wayyyyyy different than watching professional sports. Playing allows you to be active and exercise and improve your quality of life. Supporting a loved one playing is cool tooo, but you should try to be involbed actively as well as opposed to just watching.
But any one who tries to justify or rationalize that

a lot can be said for the positive effect that things like that can have on you, your family, and your general outlook..02 cents wrote:Unfortunately, I love professional Sports. Re: Sports is a waste of mind
Whether watching sports is a waste of time is pretty subjective. For some people it may be the best way to zone out for a few hours and to enjoy watching something they like. Who is to say that its a bad thing to enjoy something in life?
On the other hand, sports is a waste of time for me. I used to watch basketball as a kid and some football...But as I got older, I lost interest. Still watch MMA a little bit, but not very much. The way I see it, it is like entering fantasy land...I like thinking of the real world. Whether or not some team wins a game has no effect on me nor does it interest me since I can't seem to live vicariously through a bunch of strangers..That's where I agree with 02cents about actually playing sports. I like to be in the game myself...I think actually taking part in a game has benefits. Not only because of exercise but I think theirs something natural about physically active games that are fun which gives you a better sense of well being. But as far as sitting around watching some pro athletes play, it bores the shit out of me. Like when I go to a family gathering, everyone is talking about sports as if it super important. People are concerned about whether the lakers are going to win or not, and the sports talk never ends, and me, being me, all I can think of is all the crazy world events from war, economics etc that are going on at any given time that seem to be far more important lol...But I also realize that sometimes you got to get away from the bad shit going on out there and take a break....The problem is that many people are always zoned out and never want to face reality, they stick their head in the sand and only concern themselves with sports or reality TV while the world collapses around them.
