Fontana Police search for man after hours-long standoff

FONTANTA - Authorities are searching for a man who reportedly attacked a woman and brandished a weapon at another person leading to a four-hour SWAT situation in Fontana Sunday, officials said.
Fontana Police officers were called out to a residence on Laurel Avenue north of Arrow Boulevard Sunday afternoon for a domestic violence call, according to Fontana Police officials.

During an investigation officers were told the unidentified man also threatened another person in the home with a firearm and that he may still be inside the home, said Lt. Jim Escarpe.

After ordering the man to exit the home using a public address system, authorities called out the Inland Valley SWAT team around 6 p.m., officials said.

The SWAT team entered the home and determined the man was not inside.

One woman did seek medical treatment as a result of the initial domestic violence call, Escarpe said, but no one else was injured in the incident.

Investigators are still searching for the man.
