10 Guns confiscated in Fontana
Several illegal weapons were confiscated at residences in Rancho Cucamonga and Fontana, according to the Fontana Police Department.
On Jan. 23, Fontana P.D. officers were assisting deputies from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Fontana Station in an investigation into a shooting which had occurred the previous week in the unincorporated area of the 9100 block of Redwood Avenue.
During their investigation, the Fontana officers obtained information which led to search warrant being issued for two residences. On that same day, the officers served the search warrants, one in the 8800 block of Reid in Rancho Cucamonga and the other in the 9300 block of Fremontia in Fontana.
As a result of those search warrants, the officers located and took possession of 10 guns, which included weapons such as a Tec-9, Mac-11, SKS, and Uzi as well as several handguns, shotguns and over 500 rounds of ammunition.
Officers arrested Anthony Cortez, a 53-year-old Fontana resident, and Raymond Cortez, a 19-year-old Fontana resident, at the house on Fremontia for charges including possession of an illegal assault rifle and actively participating in a criminal street gang.
At the residence in Rancho Cucamonga, Johnny Cortez, a 25-year-old Rancho Cucamonga resident, was arrested for allegedly being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition and actively participating in a criminal street gang.
All three were booked at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga.
The investigation into the initial shooting on Redwood is still ongoing.
