It's been kind of wild out there since last week. The usual shootings, and a few murders since Saturday, and now a bop almost gets murked. I won't be surprised if this latest incident was related to the Zimmerman verdict. If it is, then it will rattled some cages for sure.

Authorities responded to reports of an officer down on East Date Street, near Del Rosa Avenue, just after 10 a.m. in San Bernardino. About an hour later, authorities said officers had a suspect cornered at another location.
Early reports indicated the shooting took place at an apartment complex on the north side of Date Street between Farifax Drive and Del Rosa Avenue.

Nearby Jefferson Hunt Elementary School, 1342 E Pumalo St. in San Bernardino, was on lockdown following the incident.

According to Paul Williams of the San Bernardino Police Department, an injured officer was taken by police car to Loma Linda University Medical Center.

Juan Alvarado of San Bernardino said he was coming out of a nearby store when he heard

the gunshots.
"I was scared. It was very close to me," he said, adding that he didn't actually see a gun.

Half a dozen police and sheriff's vehicles were later at the scene, where. officers were seen looking around and talking to potential witnesses.

Just caught a news brief on KTLA that reported the officers were ambushed. The officers went to some apartments on Date street to serve an eviction notice when they were stopped in the middle of the street and a car with three people in it quickly drove by and fired shots. One of the officers sustained wounds to the head, arm and once in the hand, but was able to get out of his car and return fire.

Either someone has a personal vendetta against one of these cops, or it's related to the Zimmerman verdict.
