Three suspects in kidnapping, stabbing have gang ties

RIALTO - Police say three of the four men suspected in a kidnapping and stabbing Wednesday here are members of a Fontana-based gang.
Police said they plan to seek gang participation charges against Alfredo Anguiano, 18, of Hesperia, and Ricardo Hernandez, 18, and Luis Antonio Garcia, 28, both of Fontana.

All three and another Hesperia resident, Manuel Hernandez Farias, 18, have been arrested on suspicion of kidnapping and attempted homicide.

Garcia was also held on suspicion of violating parole. Hernandez is suspected of violating probation.

"This is a very serious case. We have two individuals who are fighting for their lives," said Rialto police Lt. Joe Cirilo.

The victims - ages 20 and 21 - remained hospitalized Thursday with serious stab wounds. They were in stable condition, Cirilo said. Their names have not been released for their safety, police said.

Police say the victims were kidnapped from Hesperia, bound and gagged with duct tape and then brought to Rialto where they were stabbed multiple times.

Investigators believe the suspects planned to kill the victims, put their bodies in a car and then set it on fire. But something thwarted their plans.

Rialto police received a call at 12:19 a.m. Wednesday about shots being fired in the 1800 block of West Base Line.

Officers found the victims at the scene and took the four suspects into custody nearby.

Police said they found no

gunshot victims or any firearms at the scene. A search at the Hesperia home where the incident began turned up no firearms, Cirilo said.
But investigators said they did find other evidence.

"What they found supports the fact that these two victims were taken by force and transported by the suspects to the city of Rialto with the intent to murder them," Cirilo said.

Police did not reveal a motive for the crimes.

Anyone with information is asked to call Rialto police at 909-820-2550.
