FONTANA -- A Fontana man is behind bars Thursday after he was reportedly found with items taken from two of his neighbor's homes, Fontana Police officials said.
Wednesday afternoon, police officials received a call concerning a residential burglary in the 17000 block of Pine Avenue, according to a police news release. While at that location, they learned another home about one block away had also been broken into.

Working from a tip, officers went to a home also in the 17000 block of Pine Avenue where they spoke to 19-year-old Alejandro Martinez Elias.

When officers searched his home they found several items linking him to the two burglaries, according to officials.

Elias was arrested and booked on suspicion of residential burglary. He is being held at the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga.

Two Bloomington residents were arrested when police spotted them before dawn driving away from a housing development in a van loaded with stolen property, investigators say.
Jail records show that 32-year-old Francisco Joe Silva of Bloomington was arrested at 4:34 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 19, at Sierra and Jurupa Avenues in south Fontana. His bail is $25,000.
A 17-year-old Bloomington boy who was a passenger in the van was released to his parents pending a review of the case by the District Attorney’s office.
Police were summoned to the neighborhood at 3:20 a.m. by a neighbor who reported that he’d seen two men inside an open garage. The men ran carried a large item to a van parked near Crabapple Lane and Snow Bell Place and drove toward Jurupa Avenue, the caller told 911 dispatchers.
When officers stopped the van, they found that it contained several stolen items, Sgt. Robert Morris said in a written statement. A back pack had been removed from an open garage along the 17100 block of Crabapple Lane, and a scooter had been taken from the front yard along the 11200 block of Snow Bell Place, according to the statement.

Man breaks into Fontana home and allegedly threatens resident with a pick axe

Published: Tuesday, January 8, 2013 8:54 AM PST
A man broke into a Fontana home and allegedly threatened the resident with a pick axe before being arrested, according to the Fontana Police Department.

On Jan. 7 at about 9:05 p.m., the victim, a male 42-year-old resident of Fontana, was at his home in the 6800 block of Earp Way. His small son told him that a male suspect had just forced his way into their garage through a side exterior door.

The victim walked into his garage through the interior door and encountered the suspect, James Bryant, a 42-year-old resident of Victorville, rummaging through items in his garage. Bryant allegedly grabbed a pick axe from nearby and held it up, threatening the victim, police said.

The victim immediately called the police as Bryant fled the garage. As police officers arrived, they quickly established a perimeter and began a yard-to-yard search for Bryant.

Bryant was located several houses away in a yard and refused any of the officers' commands, police said. After a struggle, Bryant was taken into custody. He was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment and unrelated medical issues.

It is anticipated that Bryant will be subsequently booked at a county jail facility when released on charges of burglary and assault with a deadly weapon, police said.

Man is arrested on theft charge at toy store in Fontana

Published: Monday, January 21, 2013 12:43 PM PST
A man was arrested on a theft charge in Fontana, according to the Fontana Police Department.

On Jan. 20, officers responded to the Toys R Us located in the 16700 block of Valley Boulevard regarding an alleged shoplifter in custody.

It was reported that store employees had witnessed the suspect, James Long, 34, place several items into a shopping cart and then attempt to walk out of the store without paying for the items. Long had been detained by store personnel, who then contacted the police.

While conducting his investigation at the scene, the police officer located an orange jumpsuit that is issued to inmates at West Valley Detention Center in Long's belongings. The officer was able to determine that the jumpsuit was in fact stolen from the detention center, police said.

Long was arrested on charges of theft with a prior theft conviction, possession of stolen property and violation of parole. He was booked at West Valley Detention Center.
