Yeah, these are all the rappers that make music wack these days...I remember back then it was cool to listen to all the rap stations on the radio, now it's a bunch of nonstop bullshit that I can't listen to.

Here's some good music that I'm feelin' right now. Neither the artists nor the albums are particularly new or in any particular order.

Hip Hop:
1. Jay Dee/ J Dilla (jay love japan, ruff draft, the shining, pay jay, donuts, dillagence w/ busta rhymes, etc.)
2. Madlib (champion sound w/ j dilla, madvillainy w/ mf doom)
3. 9th Wonder (the formula w/ buckshot)
4. Black Milk (pressure)
5. Slum Village (fantastic vol. 1, fantastic vol. 2)

Funk/soul:
1. James Brown (revolution of the mind, black ceasar)
2. Alicia Myers (alicia) (don't stop what you're doin' is the shit!)

5. Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings

Good Selection Alfonze, I heard about some of those groups but I never really gave it a listened...till now, I just looked some of them up on youtube...good music. I gotta aknowlege good music when I hear it.

I would say that rap is one part of hip hop., and within rap there are many different styles: lyrical, with an emphasis on style and word play; gangsta, with an emphasis on having your lyrics reflect hood shit (it should be clear that I'm using "gangsta" in a generic sense. We all know a lot "gangsta rappers" don't really bang); revolutionary, with an emphasis on challenging political, economic and social structures; pop, with an emphasis on making people dance and selling records.

yup, i always figured "hip-hop" music to be that corny sounding fabolous, souja boy, kinda shit. rap, to me, was always like 2pac, snoop, nas type shit. not the "pop" music. just the word hip hop sounds corny. but thats always how i myself interpreted it. some may see different, im not saying im right or wrong. just the way i look at it.

a i told you i didnt say i was right or wrong. but on the real homeboy, i didnt spend my earlier years watching mtv or listening to the radio. like i said that was my opinion based on just hearing shit and shit i seen, when i would ask or look for rap music back in the day i never heard of "hip hop" tupac was the first rapper i ever listened to. not until later did i ever hear of the hip hop thing. because i wasnt that into it. i grew up on whatever my brothers and uncles listened to. mostly oldies and shit. now i think you are talking about hip hop as in the whole cultural thing. like the graffiti and b boy and dj shit. but i dont know shit about it. just listen to shit i like or whatever the homies or primos recommend. i dont research shit and get all into it. i could take you to a whole lot of homies that dont know the difference either. so, enlighten me. tell me about hip hop.
