A homeowner shot and wounded a 35-year-old San Bernardino burglar after the intruder tried to attack him, police say.
Leonard Guerra was arrested for investigation of burglary and false imprisonment and booked at a hospital jail ward where he was listed in critical but stable condition, Sgt. Travis Walker said in a written statement.
The gunfire erupted at 11:24 p.m. Saturday, June 15, along the 2200 block of West Mill Street.
“Guerra broke into the residence while it was being renovated,” according to the statement. “When a female family member who lives in a rear house went to check, (she) was confronted by Guerra.
“The female victim began to scream for other family members to come help her, and Guerra grabbed her.”
The victim’s dad hustled to her aid.
“Guerra attempted to attack the father, at which time Guerra was shot once by the father,” Walker wrote.
