SAN BERNARDINO >> Police are investigating another fatality Tuesday afternoon resulting from gun violence on city streets.
Shortly before 3 p.m. police received several calls about a man down in the 300 block of W. 13th Street.
They found a man in his mid-20s on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest, police Lt. Tim Crocker said.
"Paramedics attempted life-saving procedures on scene but were unsuccessful," Crocker said. "They pronounced him deceased at the scene."
Police said they won't release the man's identity, who's last known address was in Redlands, until his next-of-kin has been notified.
Crocker said detectives have little information about what transpired.
"We don't have a motive nor do we have any suspect information at this time," he said.
Several middle school children made their way to the edge of the crime scene tape and began taking photographs and video on their cell phones of the man as his body lay uncovered in the middle of the street.
This is the 59th homicide investigated in the city this year which includes one determined to have been justified. The slaying of Deshawn Cristen Webb, 18, of San Bernardino on the evening of June 8 was declared justified according to the San Bernardino Police and San Bernardino County District Attorney's Office.
